We are so excited to share with you that two Woodard employees, Clinton Sargent and Tim McDuffie, nominated our President Justin Woodard for the ESGR’s Patriot Award, which he was awarded with last week!Woodard currently employees 10 veterans. Both Clinton and Tim are members of the Reserve Component Service of our nation’s military and wanted to thank Justin for his continual support of their military careers.“Working for a company like Woodard, in which they completely support the military and the members that serve in all aspects, has allowed me to complete my normal military requirements and those that are unexpected with no hesitation. Their mentality has allowed me to concentrate all of my energy towards my training while I am gone. I think that the industry that Woodard is in has allowed the executive team to appreciate the importance of being needed. When a flood occurs, or an ice storm that leaves thousands without power, Woodard knows what it takes to help people get back to their lives. The National Guard helps starts that process when natural disasters happen.” – Tim McDuffieThe Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), is a Department of Defense program that was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between members of the Guard & Reserve and their civilian employers, and to minimize conflicts arising from their ongoing military commitment. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made by an individual of a company to support citizen warriors by providing flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.“Thank you so much, Tim and Clinton! I really appreciate this recognition, but to me, it isn’t even a question about whether or not to allow these brave gentlemen to continue to serve our country while working at Woodard. They’ve made (and continue to make) so many sacrifices for our country, that allowing them the time to attend drill or any other military commitments is a no-brainer. Before my grandfather, Earl Woodard, started our company with my grandmother, he was an Army Air Corp navigator during World War II – respecting our nation’s military is part of my family and part of Woodard. We’re grateful for their service and humbled by this honor.” – Justin Woodard, PresidentJustin was presented the award and lapel pin at Woodard’s office located in Rock Hill, MO on Wednesday, September 21 by an ESGR State Committee Member.
