Water damage repair process:

Once you have had the source of water flow repaired by a third party, call Woodard to assess the needs of your situation and we will send a water damage specialist to assess damages, or a crew to begin water extraction. Our water damage repair process can include the following steps:

  1. With the water source repaired, our restoration professionals will perform a free and complete inspection of the water damage and determine the best restoration strategy. This involves identifying the source of the water or flooding, determining the water sanitation category and classifying the damages for insurance purposes. Using our insurance-based software, we will accurately estimate the time and materials needed to complete your repair. If requested, Woodard will file a claim with your insurance and bill them directly for your water damage repair services. (Most business owners’ insurance policies will cover the cost of both water removal and restoration.)
  2. Following the establishment of the restoration strategy, we will begin the extraction, drying and cleaning processes.
  3. We will contain the existing floodwater to prevent further damage of floors, walls, furnishings, appliances or other items.
  4. During water extraction, we will bring our water pumps to drain the majority of the floodwater from the property. For major flooding, we will bring our state-of-the-art truck mounted pumps that remove water by hundreds of thousands of gallons quickly.
  5. Next, we will determine the water damage mitigation method needed depending on the extent of water damage and the water sanitation category or class of water damage. Using industrial dehumidifiers, high-powered fans and thermal imaging we will quickly and completely dry your walls, floors and other key surfaces.
  6. We will remove remaining dirt and debris before cleaning, decontaminating and fully disinfecting to prevent mold and microorganism infestation. If mold is detected, we can also implement mold remediation services (link to mold remediation).
  7. Woodard’s construction team will apply IICRC S500 standards when repairing and reconstructing your property.
  8. During your restoration process, we can also move your affected assets to our special facility for contents restoration. There, we will clean and restore all items that can be saved and move them back into your property when it is completed.
  9. Using moisture meters, your restoration team will perform a final inspection of your building to ensure that it is completely dry. Woodard engineers and technicians will inspect the completed restoration work to ensure it meets quality and safety standards. Also at this time, we will also ask you to review the finished work and let us know it meets your expectations and satisfaction.

About our equipment

Because they are industrial-strength, our humidifiers, air movers and axial fans do tend to run loudly, but they also allow us to properly and more quickly dry out the damaged space, which is necessary to prevent mold growth or rotting of surfaces. All of our equipment is safe for humans and animals. We ask that you do not move the equipment or electrical wires, which are placed strategically to maintain safety. Water damage repair — what to expect and FAQs

Should I contact a plumber for the repairs?

If water is coming in from a sewer drain on your property, please call a plumber to clear the line before calling us to start your dry out/cleanup process. A third party must repair the water source before Woodard can begin restoration services.

Can Woodard determine the source or detect the leak?

Woodard does not repair the source of the water, it is best to call a third party to identify the source of the leak and make the repair.

Should I contact MSD?

If a sewer backup caused your water damage, it wouldn’t hurt to call MSD to see if it’s a covered loss. We do work with MSD’s insurance on covered losses, so we would be happy to help. If this is an MSD-covered loss, be sure to get a work order #/claim # from them, as well as clarification of whether you have a “blocked main” or “overcharged main.”

Are any chemicals that Woodard uses hazardous?

All of the chemicals we use are safe for your household and the environment. We keep an updated library of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on all products we use, and are happy to provide this information upon request.

What should I do before you get here?

Have the source of the water repaired or shut off the water before we arrive. If possible, move any valuable items out of the water to prevent additional damage to them.
