On Saturday June 3rd, a team of athletes representing Woodard participated in the American Diabetes Association’s St. Louis chapter Tour de Cure bike ride and 5k walk/run.
We had participants in the 30 mile, 50 mile, and 100 mile rides as well as the 5k walk/run. In the weeks leading up to the event, our team raised over $17,000 in the fight against diabetes! Diabetes affects over 29 million Americans every year and is one of the top 10 leading causes of death in the U.S. We participate because we all know someone affected by the disease and want to do all we can to help support the research and medicine behind fighting it.
Since 1991, this event has raised over $250,000,000 to help advance their mission “To prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.” The Tour de Cure – St. Louis had over 450 participants and 55 teams that joined together to help stop diabetes, raising $161,706.01 (as of June 6th).
