How To Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

January is almost over and many New Year’s resolutions are beginning to slip.

We’ve put together a few tips to help you keep those resolutions going strong. Follow these tips to ensure you hit your goals in 2018!

Keep it Simple. When creating a New Year’s resolution, we often shoot for unrealistic goals and ultimately set ourselves up for failure. If you create a simple, realistic, and achievable goal, your chances of success are much higher. Also, try to avoid setting too many resolutions – pick one that you know you can attain if you work at it.

Get into a routine. Did you know it takes just 21 days to create a habit? Yup…that’s it! Plan a routine to keep you on track that aligns with your resolutions. Be sure to make your routine consistent day-to-day and week-to-week. When you plan for success, you achieve success!

Find accountability. Everything is easier when you have a support system in place to help you. Find a friend who has similar goals as you. Both of you can hold each other accountable and keep the motivation going! An accountability partner is also great for those times when you may get stuck or have a setback. They are there to help you get back on track and keep you going.

Track your progress. How will you know if you’re achieving your goals if you don’t have anything to compare them to? Everything from wanting to lead a healthier lifestyle to saving money should have a starting point to reflect on. Choose checkpoint goals ahead of time to reflect back on your starting point and see how you’re progressing toward your goal. This will help keep you on track!

Celebrate! You need to give yourself credit for hitting your goals! Be proud of the progress you are making in accomplishing your resolutions. Everyone deserves to give themselves a pat on the back once in a while!
