Creative No-Carve Pumpkin Decorating | 5 DIY Ideas

So, this Halloween is sure to be like every other; walking with your children—in what seems like unreasonably cold and wet fall weather—from house to house, and street to street, while they collect sweets from strangers until their little buckets and bags are overflowing.

Sounds like a blast for them, but what about you?

You are too old for trick-or-treating, and your Halloween nights now consist of inspecting candy and watching “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.“ Why not get in on the fun with a little creative with pumpkin decorating?

Pumpkin decorating is no longer just for kids. With Halloween just 4 days away, there is still time for the young at heart to get in on the fun too! Let us share with you 5 DIY ideas for creative no-carve pumpkin decorating.

DIY Idea #1 – Stick to it.

Using tape to add details to pumpkins is one quick and easy way to create beautiful pumpkins. Whether you choose to use double-sided tape or Washi—all you have to do is peel and stick!

DIY Idea #2 – Bling Out.

Be a one-person glam squad and bling-out your pumpkin this Halloween. Placing glitter, rhinestones or sequins to your pumpkins will give them a glamorous look.

DIY Idea #3 – Mark the Spot.

Are you more of a traditionalist and would rather just make a jack-o-lantern? Well, there is a no-carve solution to that too. You can draw on a face using a washable marker first. We like these! You can wipe off and restart as needed. Once you have created the perfect look, sketch over with a black permanent marker and you’re done!

DIY Idea #4 – Rock Out.

Give your pumpkins an edge by turning them into punk rock-inspired “punk-ins” using black paint, safety pins and leather fabric.

For a more toned down look, just do the following:

  • Paint a face on the pumpkin.
  • Let it dry before adding the punk details.
  • Stencil out a star design around the pumpkin’s eye.
  • Start putting in nails along the outline, using a mallet or hammer if necessary to secure the nails.

DIY Idea #5 – Be Tacky.

Office thumbtacks can be used in a variety of ways to give your pumpkins a creative look. Just stencil a design onto your pumpkin, then place the thumbtacks and voila!

Don’t let the kids have all the fun this Halloween. Get creative and try these 5 DIY ideas for creative no-carve pumpkin decorating yourself!
